Baking Soda

IMG_3728Comfort zones should be renamed to growth-less zones because that’s exactly what happens when you stay in them. You get wrapped up in doing the same things you’ve always done, hanging out with the same people you’ve always hung out with, repeating patters, getting stuck in old habits and just not really doing much. Not living, not creating, not growing!

IMG_3939-horzAttempting to shoot this look, as much as it might not seem like it, took me a full 2 weeks. 2 whole entire weeks of trial and error, tons and tons and tons of discarded concepts and pictures, a lot of frustration from the fact that the dress is white and gets dirty easily to not liking any of the locations I wanted to shoot in, not having the photography skills I’d like to have (yet) and a whole bunch of other excuses that almost convinced me not to post it.

IMG_3980-horzI’ve been living in this intense discomfort over this look but I also realized how much I can actually do, how inventive I can be and how much I’m willing to invest in this blogging thing. I was going to write a very long, very apologetic paragraph about all the flaws I see with the pictures but at the end of the day, being apologetic won’t make them look how I want them to and delaying the post for the sake of “perfection” (whatever that means) won’t do me, my growth or the blog any justice and that’s the general approach we have to have with life you know? The faster you fail, the faster you improve and at the end of the day, the show must go on whether you’re ready or not.

IMG_3946-horzSpecial thank you to my amazing friend, writer and just all around amazing person Ms. Tendy Kay, who you should definitely check out on her blog and Facebook Page for amazing poetry. She pushed me to get out of my comfort zone and try some things out and without her, a couple of these shots wouldn’t have happened. She should definitely add #CreativeDirector to her resume.

IMG_3752IMG_3772editedAlso, like VGC on Facebook and Tumblr for some exclusive content like this particularly interesting tidbit where I decided I was going to be a bootleg videographer and film myself. Trust me, you want to see this 😉

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and stay tuned for new things to come very very soon!
